Counseling

Usually, you’re able to handle the day to day problems. But when you find yourself constantly wrestling with the same issues it may be time to seek help from someone who has more experience.

Most clients will tell you that the first session was the hardest. Not knowing what to expect made it easier to delay making that first appointment. Yet, once they made it through the doors they found out that counseling is a normal thing for lots of people.

What You Can Expect

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is one of the imporatnt elements that makes the counseling process safe for my clients. Nothing that is discussed in session will be disclosed to anyone else. (Note: There are legal limits to confidentiality all counselors are subject to. See the professional disclosure for more information.)

Direction

Counseling needs to involve more than just randomly talking about your problems. As your counselor, I will listen to your needs and issues and together we will create specific goals and objectives to reach in the counseling process. Most of my clients will have projects and assignments throughout the week to help them achieve their goals. Assignments often include writing projects, reading, movies, personal or family activities, artistic mediums, etc…

Knowledge

The counseling process will be the most successful when you find a counselor that specializes in the issues you’re wrestling with. My specializations are Abuse & Trauma Recovery and Sexual Addictions. I also have experience with Individual and Couples Counseling as well as Pastoral Support.

Approach

Unless my clients feel safe they will never be able to gain the full benefits of the counseling process. That is why I encourage my clients to begin the process slowly. Once there is an adequate level of trust built then we can look at the more difficult issues.
