Dad came home from a busy day at work, tired and exhausted. As he walks up the steps to the front door he hears noises and commotion coming from the side of the house. Peaking around the corner he sees his youngest son busy at work—paint can on the ground, paint brush in his hand and trickle of sweat running down the side of his face. Curious, Dad moves closer to see what his son is painting. There, on the side of his house is a large swath of bright purple his son has diligently worked on for the last several hours. “Look dad, I’m helping you paint the house.”
At this point, Dad has a choice to make.
- Choice #1—Does he tell his son that he’s messed up the professional paint job done last summer? Or…
- Choice #2—Does he recognize the intent of his littlest son’s heart and commend him on such a fine paint job, change into his grubby clothes, and help his son finish painting the side of the house purple?
What would your Dad do? What would your Heavenly Dad do?
