“… no one would ever come.”
Shaking, tremblings, sore muscles, nausea, tiredness—all of these are common after processing through traumatic events.
Even though these are not “pleasant”, they can be a good thing.
According to Peter Levine and David Berceli, the body stores unreleased energy when you are traumatized. Finding safe and appropriate ways to release that stored energy (like therapy) allows your body to go back to a natural state of rest.
Letting your body heal makes it possible for your mind, your emotions, and your spirit to heal as well.
It is hard work trying to deal day-in-and-day-out with scary and traumatic events. It’s also hard work processing trauma.
You get to choose which hard you want in your life.
